Axor Urquiola offers a fascinating style fusion for your bathroom featuring intricate and delicate designs. Each element possesses a unique combination of charm and soft, feminine shapes.  Axor Urquiola is a tactile and romantic collection encompassing Patricia Urquiola's signature look of mixing different styles.

This adaptable range flows naturally from the bathroom into the bedroom with freestanding partitions - ideal for separating space whilst leading into the bathroom area.  The basin, shower and bath mixers are a style fusion whilst the quintessential shape of the wash bowl and bath tub resemble old-style baths with the inimitable Urquiola stamp on them.  There is space for a flannel or small towel on the basin, a towel on the bath, and the slipper style of the bath uses less water. 

The Axor Urquiola basin mixers are available in a variety of designs and heights and complement the bowls and basins.  You can choose mixers on the bath rim or wall, or a floor-standing thermosatic option and matching shower mixers and thermostats.   The wall-mounted radiators complete the Urquiola collection.

White - The Ultimate Classic

As Spring beckons we all think of updating or spring cleaning our homes.  If you are looking for a quick change and have painted walls selecting a new colour is the quickest way to update a room without breaking the bank.  White never ages, never goes out of fashion and is a design classic both in interiors and fashion.

You can select from the many shades of white by Farrow + Ball, from All White to Wevet - if you are not local to Dorset it means a spider's web which hints at the delicate tones of the shade.  Here at Soak in Style we use Farrow + Ball when painting our clients baths which we do quite often.

 

What does White do to a space?

Soak in Style designed and supplied 8 bathrooms for the refurbishment of a large family home in Beaconsfield.  Most of the bathrooms were white with a pop of colour either in the furniture for the childrens' bathroom, or with plants or accessories.

So which bath is the one for you?

Teuco Freestanding Paper bath

The Teuco Paper bathtub is available in a wide number of sizes and in a large number of configurations: flush-fit, undermount, built-in recessed, and with between 1 and 4 panels. You can select panels in Whte or pick from one of the Pantone shades or the wood finishes of Anthracite Oak, Limed Oak and Wenge.  On display in the Soak in Style showroom is the exclusive Hydroline whirlpool, the first system to feature stylish slits instead of nozzles.  The innovative design of this bathtub has been included in the prestigious ADI DESIGN INDEX 2011, and was designed by Giovanna Talocci, an industrial and interior designer.

The Victoria + Albert Toulouse bath draws inspiration from the 19th Century French double ended bateau bath, and is made from their unique Quarrycast® material that has high insulation properties.

The Mastella Vov bath is egg shaped so you can bathe in cocooned warmth and soak all your stresses and strains away.

Axor Urquiola received Design Award of The Federal Republic of Germany

Axor Urquiola received the highest official German design award, the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The “award of all awards” is presented in Frankfurt. The winner: the Axor Urquiola wash basin

Philippe Grohe accepted the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany at a ceremony in Frankfurt am Main.  The head of the Axor brand was accompanied by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola.  Due to her creativity the most prestigious German design award went to the Black Forest: the wash basin from the jointly developed Axor Urquiola Collection was presented with the “award of all awards” in silver. The award went to Hansgrohe for the second year running.

“We are delighted to receive this award”, commented Philippe Grohe.  “It confirms our innovative strength and Axor’s design expertise.”  The work with Patricia Urquiola, who is regarded as a master of style fusion, was extremely inspiring. She looked at the bathroom and asked questions from a woman’s perspective: what room do I need to myself and what areas do I want to share? The Axor Urquiola collection aesthetically answers to these questions.  The Urquiola wash basin is now regarded as the fairest of all.

Judging panel: a wash basin that creates feeling

The Axor Urquiola wash basin has slit-like openings on both sides that resemble handles and can be used as towel rails.  The high-calibre judging panel regards the wash basin as a “homage to the traditional form of ancient wash tubs”.  It is not only functional, but also charges the wash basin area with emotions.  The top-end bathroom product also scored highly with the judges due to its material quality.  The mineral cast guarantees “a particularly pleasant feel” and allows the creation of an extraordinary design.

More than 1,500 products were nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, selected in 2010 by the federal and state economic ministries, but only 25 products actually received one of the prestigious awards at this year’s award ceremony.

A passion for all things purple!

From Purple Haze to Deep Purple, purple flowers to rich purple fashion ... never mind amethysts  ... why do so many of us love it?

The rich jewel tone flatters all colour skins and tones, so don't just think of it as a shade to wear in the cooler months - although it returns every year in one format or another, and looks equally flattering on everyone.  Purple can be worn all year round, add sophistication to those black suits with dark purple blouse or accessories, and it looks great with denim.


An on this note why  not think of it in the bathroom?  Everything doesn't have to be neutral shades, you can add a little zing with some of the following:
