Planning a Family Bathroom

We recently undertook the design and supply for 6 bathrooms and 2 cloakrooms in a 1930s Beaconsfield home that was being completely updated by our clients.

The brief for their family bathroom was to create a fun bathroom for the children who are both currently under 5, but which adapt with them as they grow up.  Our client was considering child specific sanitaryware but our designer suggested Duravit Darling in a primary colour, at different sizes, which could then be moved to side by side when they had grown.  The bathroom could be accessorised to co-ordinate with the vivid green units, and then once they were older or had moved to other bedrooms with their own ensuites, the bathroom can be transformed into a guest bathroom with the use of more neutral accessories.

The main requirements for the space were:

  • - basins at separate heights
  • - fun fresh feel within the space
  • - separate bath and shower
  • - storage and plenty of it for all the fun kids stuff
  • - incorporate a bright colour into the design

A walk-in shower is ideal for young children and the mosaic floor gives extra grip.

The shower was specifically chosen so the area could be easily cleaned.

The clients are thrilled with the results, and so are the children as during one of the visits to take photographs of the finished bathrooms the children were having a bath and we could hear the gurgles of laughter loud and clear!
